5 minutes later, the longest 5 minutes of my life, the ambulance arrives and Christina’s taken into the van on a stretcher – she’s breathing at least. I ask to go in the ambulance with her but my mum goes instead; Sara promises that she’ll take me. I climb into her Ford Escort and soon we’re driving behind the ambulance down the motorway heading for Tayside hospital. When we arrive Christina is rushed straight through leaving me, my mum, Braden and Sara in the waiting room. My knees are trembling; I couldn’t survive without Christina – every possibility of what could happen to her runs through my mind. We’re sitting in a private waiting room, it’s pretty bland – the wallpaper was cream and there were 5 or 6 brown uncomfortable chairs situated around the room. A small coffee table in the middle had a large assortment of colourful but boring looking leaflets about all sorts of things from pregnancy to smoking. Soon the white door opens and I stand up expecting a doctor to come walking through, it turns out to be my dad he walks through – with Brad behind! He walks in and smiles at me slightly; “Chloe, Braden – I think it’s best that you come home now,” Dad advises. “No, I’m not going home!” I say firmly. “Listen when we hear about anything we will ring you up straight away,” My mum promises. “No, I want to stay with Christina,” I repeat. “Chloe, come home,” Brad says in his warm voice. That’s why I like him, whenever I’m nervous, or scared or whatever he always manages to calm me down by just saying a few words. They finally persuade me to go home, as soon as we walk through the door – the phone’s ringing I run to it and pick it up, maybe it’s about Christina! “Hello,” I say enthusiastically. “Hiya Christina!” The high voice says I roll my eyes. “It’s Chloe,” I correct her – it sounds like Christina’s mate Faye. “Oh well can you get Christina?” Faye asks. “No,” I say firmly. “Why not?” Faye asks. “She’s not here,” I say and I slam down the phone, I turn round and see Brad there. “Calm down Chloe, she’ll be ok,” He promises me. “No she won’t,” I say sitting down on a kitchen chair, a tear rolls down my cheek Brad takes a seat next to me. “I wish I could make it all go away, but I can’t,” He says, he smiles warmly at me his face close to mine he puts his hand softly on my cheek. “I’m sorry about everything; I should have told you that I was auditioning for that part,” Brad says softly, “I just wanted to get closer to you.” “Don’t worry about it,” I say, my heart’s pounding fast. But why? I can’t possibly fancy Brad – he’s my best mate, uh-oh this is a caught up in the moment thing. “I really like you,” He says sweetly smiling, he tilts his head to the right and before I know it I’m moving closer to him our lips are millimetres apart when the phone starts trilling loudly. I pull away in shock and reach over to the phone; “Hello!” I say, I can’t believe it – we were so close to kissing that I’d forgotten about Christina and my body feels with guilt suddenly. “Chloe, it’s mum – Christina’s going to be alright. She has something called narcolepsy, I’ll tell you more about it when we get home,” My mum says I feel like I could fly around the world three times! I finish the conversation and place the phone back down; I turn around on my heel to see Brad sitting there. “She’s gonna be alright,” I say excitedly, Brad stands up and we both hug for ages. “I told you she’d be alright,” He whispers in my ear, I smile to myself.

Depends wot bit ur on about, the narcolepsy thing was hard 2 deal with at first but now it's just an everyday thing that happens so i'm alright with it all!
Later on that night mum and Christina were due home, the door swung open and I threw my arms around my twin sister. “You’re alright, you’re not dead!” I say jumping around, Christina laughs and sits down. “Chloe, we all need to talk,” My mum says seriously, she gathers our family together on the sofas. Brad leaves promising to be round again tomorrow – I’m so happy that we’re talking again, but that passionate clinch earlier keeps playing over and over again in my mind. “Right well, to be honest I don’t know where to start. The truth would probably help right now,” My mum says, I’ve never seen her this serious before, “Girls you were not twins at birth.” “What?” I say under my breath, we were twins – me and Christina are twins. “You were triplets,” My mum says my eyes widen; what? We were triplets? “You had a brother, his name was Craig he died at birth,” My mum reveals, the hatred I felt towards her for keeping this secret was suddenly swapped with another feeling. Feeling of sorrow for my mum, these memories were obviously painful for her as her eyes were glossed with tears. “Later on doctors found out that he had narcolepsy, and somehow the narcolepsy was passed on to Christina. Now Christina has had narcolepsy all of her life, but she’d never had a narcoleptic fit – what Christina experienced today will be happening a lot in the future,” My mum reveals, suddenly my eyes are filled with tears. This isn’t right, she can’t collapse everyday – can’t they stop it? “Can’t she take some pill or, or something?” I ask. “Chloe, what’s happening to Christina cannot be stopped – however it can be calmed down. Every month Christina will have an injection to calm down the narcolepsy, it should die down by the time she’s 16,” It’s all to much to take in, so everyday I’m going to see Christina just, just collapse like that? And the stupid NHS can’t do anything to help her, imagine how that feels – imagine how she must feel. Knowing that at any second she could just faint, just like that. My mum and Christina fully explain it to me, and it sounds scary – not only scary for me but scary for Christina. When Christina faints, she lays there – she tries to get up but her muscles won’t work and she lies there helpless. And she stays like that until her mind is completely clear and she’s relaxed and calm, then she can get up. She can hear what’s going on around her and in order to get rid of narcolepsy – you have to overcome it, there’s no special injection to make it go away.

The next day I’m up late, I have nothing to do today except me and Brad promised to get together at some point. I sleepily walk down the stairs to our living room and through to the kitchen where Braden is eating breakfast. “I’m looking after you today,” He grunts, I give him a disgusted face; “Mum had to go to work.” “No surprise there then, where’s Christina?” I ask him walking to the big silver fridge. “Out,” Braden replies sharply. “What she’s actually up before 11 pm?” I ask shocked, Christina never leaves her room before 11 on a Sunday! “She’s gone round Josh’s, said it was an emergency,” Braden says. “Oh right, thanks for your very valuable help,” I say sarcastically he just gives me and evil look and carries on eating his toast. “Oh you need to get out of the house by about 1,” Braden demands. “Why?” I snap. “Coz Rosie is coming round,” Braden says firmly – Rosie is his girlfriend, she’s really pretty and has turned into the older sister that I never had! “Oh wicked, I wanna talk to her!” I say enthusiastically. “CHLOE!” Braden shouts. “I’m joking, I’m joking,” I insist, “I need to see Brad anyway.” “Don’t you go doing anything stupid,” Braden warns me. “Oh Braden – you are not my mother,” I say leaving the kitchen with a drink in my hand. A few hours later and me and Brad arranged to meet at the leisure centre, I don’t make any particular effort in what I’m wearing and neither does he. I explain to him about what’s wrong with Christina – he’s a good listener! “Just watch out for her, there’s nothing you can really do for her now,” Brad says I nod slightly, it makes sense. “As long as you’re alright, that’s all the matters,” Brad smiles at me, I smile back faintly. “You’re a good listener,” I compliment him. “You’re a good talker,” He jokes, I laugh. “Well it’s what I do best,” I say pulling my legs up and crossing them. “Can’t argue with that,” He smiles, he moves towards me to kiss me I stop him. “Brad don’t,” I say firmly. “I thought this was what you wanted,” Brad says in a confused voice. “Just,” I pause, “Don’t.” I stand up and start heading out of the leisure centre car park which was where we were sitting. “Chloe, I,” He says but I ignore him and walk off. Half of me wants him to come after me, half of me wishes he’d just disappear, I mope home feeling sorry for myself and enter the back way. I bound through the door and slam it shut, angry with myself for being so stupid – I’m being so confusing that I’ve confused myself! Brad wants to know what I want, but I can’t tell him what I want because I don’t know what I want. I walk into the kitchen to find Braden in the kitchen getting a drink; “God, who put a bee in your bonnet?” Braden teases. “Oh shut up! All boys are pigs,” I snap taking some ice cream from the fridge and two sthingys from the drawer. “You can’t eat every time somebody breaks your heart Chloe,” Braden says. “Why don’t you just go away!” I shout and I storm up the stairs slamming my feet down. I walk up to me bedroom door and push it hard, but it doesn’t open – it must be locked.

“Christina, open the door!” I shout. “No, go away!” She shouts stuttering slightly, I can tell that she’s crying. “Christina, let me in!” I demand. “I said go away!” She shouts back. “You can’t strop in your room forever!” I snap. “I’m not stropping in my room,” She defends. “Oh, so what are you doing then?” I ask, there’s silence. “I’m stropping in my room,” She shouts back after a pause. “Well if you don’t mind I would like to strop in my room too!” “Tough luck, I got here first – I have the right to strop,” Christina shouts forcefully. “Christina just open the bloody door,” I say calmly. “How many times do I have to say no?” “I’ve got ice cream,” I bribe, she falls silent. “Fine,” She says I hear a click and the door swings open, I see Christina walking back to her bed and collapsing onto it. Her big eyes were glossy with tears and her cheeks were red from the crying she’d been doing. “Why are you crying,” I say sitting down next to Christina and opening the ice cream tub and tossing her a sthingy. “Josh broke up with me,” She says sticking her sthingy into the ice-cream. “What!” I say shocked, Josh and Christina are like the Posh and Becks of Tayside Secondary School! “He said he couldn’t deal with my narcolepsy,” She says violently butchering the ice cream now. “Well everybody else can, just leave him Chris he’s a total barstard,” I assure her, “All boys are like it.” “But Chloe,” Christina says feebly, “I love him.” “Oh Chris,” I say hugging her, “You’re too young to love someone.” “But I did,” She whispers. “Right that’s it,” I say a sudden surge of confidence running through me, I walk to the desk and pick up the phone. “What’s his number?” I ask. “Chloe what are you doing?” Christina snaps. “I’m ringing him up,” I say with a smirk planted across my face. “Chloe don’t,” Christina begs. “Nobody and I mean nobody makes my sister cry – get it?” I ask firmly, Christina looks at me suddenly her eyelids drop and she falls onto her bed. “Oh, I really wish you wouldn’t do that,” I mumble, every time she faints it scares me – I don’t know what to do. So I look for the phone book, soon she sits up again; “You alright?” I ask her she nods slightly; I dial in the number and put the phone to my ear before Christina can argue. The phone rings a few times then he picks up the phone; “Hello,” His deep voice comes. “Hi, it’s Chloe,” I say quickly. “You are such a bugger and don’t even think about hanging up on me, Christina can’t help having narcolepsy – it’s not her fault and she hasn’t changed a bit she loves you for gods sake and you love her, she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you and she’s not going anywhere, geddit?” I ask. “But,” He starts. “No buts now you get round here now,” I order. “But I’m out with my mates,” He excuses. “I don’t care,” I say harshly. “Fine, I’ll be round in a minute,” He says and he hangs up. “He’ll be round in a minute,” I say to Christina. “Thanks Chlo,” She thanks, I smile at her. “Now what’s wrong with you?” She asks, I’d got so caught up in her problems that I’d forgotten about mine. “Oh don’t worry,” I assure her smiling, she smiles at leaves the room. “What am I gonna do?” I ask myself flopping onto my bed which was neatly made.
Josh is soon round our house and things are back to normal, I lay there in my room staring up at the cream ceiling. I am so bored I suppose I’ll have to do something I’ve never done in my life – homework! I pull open my schoolbook draw open and search for my maths book, my phone drops onto the floor I pick it up: 1 Message received. I open the message- it’s from Brad! I open it up: Hi Chloe, I’m really sorry about everything – I thought I had you sussed obviously not love Brad xxx. I read the message over and over again, he thought he had me sussed – what did he mean by that?

oh right well here's the next bit then, it's a pretty important part so read carefully!
The next week tiptoes on at a snail’s pace, lesson after lesson after lesson and after what seems like years Saturday comes round again, we had a 2 hour rehearsal for the film coming up. The film was going to be sent to an examiner in London who’d evaluate the performance of it and tell us how we’d got on! I love Drama, I always have done and getting the final script was great, I think I’m the only one in the cast who’s looking forward to learning the lines! So Pete passes me a script and I immediately have a look at the final casting list, we have a lot of extras needed and it’s kind of weird working with adults! By the end of drama its home for me, tonight one of the girls in my year is having a party – everybody’s going and it should be really good! Christina and I, as per usual, spend hours deciding what to wear and after loads of arguments, compliments and insults we both finally have outfits. Christina, of course, wore the shortest, tightest skirt she could find – with legs like hers she can get away with it easily! I’ve never been a skirt sort of person so instead I pick tight, black trousers which Christina picks out – apparently they make my legs look longer and I’ll wear anything that’ll make me look taller! “CHLOE! CHRISTINA!” My mum hollers up the stairs as I’m straightening my already straight hair – well just in case! “What?” I shout back. “We’re taking Brad too so we’ll have to leave 5 minutes earlier,” She replies. “Ohhhh,” Christina moans, “He’s such a freak.” “No he’s not,” I snap forcefully. “Just because you fancy him,” Christina replies sharply. “No I don’t!” I say in a high voice, “He’s my best mate!” “I thought I was your best mate, what with me being your twin and everything,” Christina says, pretending to be offended, I reach over and grasp the curly tongs from her. “The idea of a best friend is that you actually like them,” I insult, Christina gasps fakely. Once me and Christina were ready we head downstairs were mum is waiting anxiously by the door. “You’re going to be late,” She snaps. “Oh well,” Christina and I say in unison, we scowl at each other. “Oh, the sooner we get there the better,” She complains. “Tell me about it,” I mumble folding my arms. “Oh what have you two fallen out over this time? Lip gloss, eye shadow? Really when I was younger I had 4 brothers and 4 sisters and we never used to argue over….” My begins on yet another trip down memory lane. “We know mum,” Christina interrupts, soon we’re in the car and we pull into the drive way of Brad’s big house. “Mum, you are gonna drop us off a street before the house aren’t you?” Christina asks. “Why would I do that?” My mum asks. “Mum, me turning up to a party in this car with you would totally wreck my reputation,” Christina frets. “What reputation,” I mumble, Christina hits my arm. “I heard that!” She defends; I smile innocently at her as the car halts outside the big white house where Brad lives. “Go and get Brad one of you,” My mum says – she always says ‘one of you’ when she can’t tell who’s who. “You go and get him,” I order Christina. “No, he’s you’re best friend remember,” Christina says, I sigh knowing that I wouldn’t win this argument and push open the car door. I walk up towards the front door and ring the bell, after a few minutes the door opens and Brad’s older brother smile down at me. “Hi Chloe,” He says smiling – wow he actually got my name right!
